Ojai Trip

- 2024 -

Our Hotel: Capri Hotel Ojai

We'll be staying at the Capri Hotel in Ojai, which features a pool, king sized beds, and great proximity to the downtown Ojai area. I booked a room with a balcony, so we'll also have a little outside area to sit and drink our morning coffee

Plans 5/5

Sunday morning will start out as any proper shmabel weekend should - we'll pick up some breakfast burritos from Veros and eat them while we drink our coffee.

We'll load up our car, say goodbye to the babies, and head out to Ojai. If we leave around 10-10:30AM we should get to Ojai at about noon.

We'll be just in time to catch the end of the Ojai farmer's market, where we can peruse fresh fruit and local goodies. We'll have some time to kill before we check in to the hotel, so I was planning on us grabbing some lunch at Boccali's and eating it picnic-style at the Ojai Scenic Overlook just up the road. It's a red sauce joint that offers italian sandwhiches during lunch time, and they are famous for their Strawberry Shortcake, which we can take with us a dessert for later.

By this time we should be good to check in to the hotel (3pm). I have a place picked out for dinner, but we can use the afternoon time to relax, nap, walk around town, or take a dip in the pool.

Once the sun is down and we're hungry we'll walk to dinner, and then the night is our to explore or bunker down in our cozy hotel room.

Plans 5/6

Monday is our full day in Ojai, and there are tons of cute spots we can hit up as we meander through town. Perhaps we'll sleep in and grab brunch at a local joint:

     - Bonnie Lu's is a classic diner-style cafe

    - Ojai Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop with pastries and light entree options

    - The Dutchess is a cafe by day and an upscale Burmese restaurant by night (and where we have reservations for dinner in the evening)

By the time we've eaten and walked through town a bit, the sun should be at its highest, so it will be the perfect time to swim at the hotel pool for a while and read in the courtyard shade.

The other main attractions I'd like to hit are:

    - Firestick Pottery Studio, where we can take a peak into one of Ojai's main pottery shops

    - Bart's Books, which is a local institution and massive outdoor used bookstore

    - The Naturalist, where I thought we could do a tasting of natural wines and maybe find a bottle to take home

Our dinner reservation at The Dutchess is at 7pm. If we don't happen to grab dessert there, we can hop over to the Frozen Yogurt shop right next door.

Plans 5/7

It's your birthday! We check out of our hotel at 11am, but we can spend as long as we like hanging out in Ojai.

I have tickets to go to the Getty, which would be right on the way back to LA, but we can also just head home and spend a cozy night in with the cats, who I wouldn't dare seperate you from on your birthday.

On our way back to Pasadena we will need to stop at Whole Foods - I have something there to pick up, plus some goodies for dinner.
